We left Thursday night for Berlin to stay over 4th of July weekend. We didn't get in until after one in the morning then ready to go again at 7!
We took our bikes so that we wouldn't have to worry about finding parking, and on day one we headed out to Alexanderplatz.
It was 98 degrees, even at 10 in the morning so our first stop once we finally made it was to get some ice cream!
This was seriously the best ice cream I have ever had, William's vanilla tasted like the homemade we use to make when I was little. I got melon and would have been fine to only eat that kind the rest of my life.
Nick was very excited to get here, this was the top of his list.
Although there was some interesting buildings, we both found it to be a bit of a disappointment,
We found a park for the kids to play in for a bit, and just hung out for a while.
We headed out to the next location, a cool market I read about online. Either we never found it or it wasn't anything like people said.
We went back to Alexanderplatz to find some lunch.
We found a great Italian place right on the river, it had the most beautiful views.
It was so hot that the kids didn't really want to eat, and we got a lot of funny looks for the very un-German things we did, like letting William drink out of the bottle,
We headed out again and came across Neptunes fountain, William got in for a minute to cool off, but the metal was so hot, it didn't last long.
We found another fountain to play in, we all soaked our feet and cooled off a little bit.
It was getting late so we headed back to the hotel to get a little rest before heading out for dinner.
Although it wasn't what we expected, we had such an amazing day and having gone to all of these places first, it set everything up for the rest of the trip, making it easier for us to travel.
