amily DayLast week I spend three days in Missouri for Nick's graduation for Basic Training. I arrived to St Louis Wednesday morning where Nick's parents and brother picked me up and we made our way to our hotel to get ready to see Nick the next day.
They had a meeting planned for the families of all of the soldiers to tell them about what they have been doing the last two months, and recognize some of the accomplishments they made. We found out that Nick received a promotion to a Private, he was so excited because that was one of his goals to graduate with his first promotion.
As soon as they released them I ran as fast as I could to get to him.
It felt so great to get a nice big hug from him again after two and a half long months.
The first thing we did was take him out to lunch. I couldn't wait to get his hands on a real hamburger and resisted the urge to just scarf if down.
After lunch we went back to the hotel so he could eat his brownies, Oreos and milk.
He told us all about the training he learned and the things he did.
We just hung out and had a good time.
He got to feel the baby kick for the first time and just loved it. I think that was the moment that it really hit him that he is going to be a father.
Before he had to go back to the base we made sure to go out and get some pictures of him and the family.
