Playing the waiting game

Nick had another long week of waiting for his classes to start. He wasn't able to fit into the round that started this week, so he will be starting on the 27th of October. This means that he will be done sometime in the beginning of March.
They had him wash cars and buses all week, he said he is a pro at hand washing cars now! He says the weekdays go slow because they don't do much, they spend a good portion of their days sitting around waiting for them to give some orders.
This week he has his PT test and what they call the Star test, this is what gets you off-post passes on the weekends. He has been studing since the moment he got there, so keep your fingers crossed that he will pass!
The finally told him more details for his Christmas leave. He will be released on the 17th of December and will have to be back on the 31st. Neither of us can wait for him to come home, and I've already started looking into bus and plane tickets.
I have finally decided when I'm taking my trip to Utah, I will be out there from October 11th till October 25th. It will be so great to see everyone one more time before our life gets really crazy!

Getting Settled In

Nick spent the last week getting settled in to the new base. He is making new friends, and learning the new way of life. He said they didn't do anything all week, and can't wait for his classes to start. He finds out today whether he made it into the next round that starts tomorrow, if not, then he will be in the round that starts at the end of the month.
He tried giving himself the official Army hair cut, and screwed it up so bad that he had to completely buzz his head because of all of the bald spots.
Even though he is 650 miles away from me, he still manages to the be the sweetest husband ever. I came home from work today to find a bouquet of roses sitting by the door from him.
I'm planning my trip to Utah, and I will probably be out there from the 11th till the 25th. I can't wait to see all of our friends and family again!
We have officially decided on a name for the baby, at least, a first name. We picked William, which was my grandfathers name. We can't wait till our little bundle of joy is actually here!

Arriving in Virginia

After spending 24 hours on a bus, and plans changing multiple times Nick finally arrived at Fort Belvoir in Virginia Saturday afternoon.
He is already amazed at how different things are there compared to Basic at Fort Leonard Wood.
It is a civilian base, so they are extremely laid back.
For now he gets his phone every weekend, and after 30 days he can take two test to get his phone and lab top every day after classes.
He will be getting a pass most weekends once he starts class, and being so close to the beach and only 13 miles from DC, he will have plenty to do.
We still aren't sure when he will be done, a round of classes starts on the 13th, and one more two weeks after that. Keep your fingers crossed that he gets into one of the two. If he doesn't make it into either of those, he will have to move back to Fort Leonard Wood where they are moving this training to. To far for me to drive just for a weekend!
Today is his birthday, and I think I'm having a harder time having him away today than he is.

He is such an amazing man, and sacrificing so much for our family, I honestly couldn't ask for a better husband and father for our son.

If you would like to send him a letter (even though he has his phone now, he still loves getting letters and pictures) the address is:
PV2 Pullan Nickolas
9425 Stimon Rd.
Fort Belvior, VA 22060

Graduating Basic Training

On Friday Nick finally graduated the Army's Basic Training. It was so cool to see him all dressed up, and looking so proud of the amazing accomplishment he has achieved.
After the ceremony we went out side, got some more pictures and just talked.

His parents are just as proud of him as I am.

It was such an emotional day, Jamie and I spent most of the morning crying.
He only had 30 minutes before he had to get back in formation to grab his bag and get ready to go.

After he went and changed he had a little time to talk with us before we all had to go.

As hard as it was to say goodbye again, for another four months it was completely worth it. I wouldn't have missed this huge moment for anything. He worked to hard to accomplish everything that he did, reaching two out of his three goals. The only thing he didn't get was expert on his rifle test, but he can do that at AIT.

Family Day

amily DayLast week I spend three days in Missouri for Nick's graduation for Basic Training. I arrived to St Louis Wednesday morning where Nick's parents and brother picked me up and we made our way to our hotel to get ready to see Nick the next day.
They had a meeting planned for the families of all of the soldiers to tell them about what they have been doing the last two months, and recognize some of the accomplishments they made. We found out that Nick received a promotion to a Private, he was so excited because that was one of his goals to graduate with his first promotion.

As soon as they released them I ran as fast as I could to get to him.
It felt so great to get a nice big hug from him again after two and a half long months.

The first thing we did was take him out to lunch. I couldn't wait to get his hands on a real hamburger and resisted the urge to just scarf if down.

After lunch we went back to the hotel so he could eat his brownies, Oreos and milk.

He told us all about the training he learned and the things he did.

We just hung out and had a good time.

He got to feel the baby kick for the first time and just loved it. I think that was the moment that it really hit him that he is going to be a father.
Before he had to go back to the base we made sure to go out and get some pictures of him and the family.
