Feeling More Prepared

Right after Nick left, I set a goal for myself to get four 72 hours kits made up. Although they are not complete, most everything is together. We still need a little more food for each bag, and backpacks to put it all in, but for not we have all of our basic medical supplies, about 24 hours of food along with a few health items seperated into plastic sacks, waiting for their permenant home. I made one for the car, enough for a day or two and have some water stored in there so that no matter where we are, we will have what we need in an emergancy. We are going to go out next month and get MRE's, since they last for ten years, we wont have to worry about rotating the food hardly at all. Although I am still not worried about anything happening, at least now I know that we have what we need if something does come up.

Not Much of a Baby

This last month William has grown leaps and bounds, more by force than his own choice however. I weaned him off of his pacifier and his bottle. You all know the story of the pacifier, but the bottle was actually very simple, he never really whined or cried, just went to bed like nothing had changed.
These came with many good side-effects, no more bottles to wash, no more keeping track of the pacifier but he actually sleeps better. There have been nights and naps that for one reason or another, it was very loud, noises that would have woken him up before but he just slept straight through it. He is working on transitioning to one nap a day, the mom who does homework during his naps thinks this is to early, but I knew that two naps a day would not last forever.
In a couple of months he will be moving from his crib into the toddler bed so that he is use to it before the baby comes. Then, at the end of June, he will be moved downstairs into his big boy room. Lots of changes are in store for our little William.

Getting Organized

William and I have worked very hard these last few weeks at getting the basement all organized to surprise Nick when he gets home. With our expanding family, this room will get used a lot more than it has in the last few months.
We got a desk, so that Nick and I have a place to do our school work.

We got toy bins and a bookshelf to hold all of Williams things (at least till his next birthday!)

I even have my own little craft corner complete with a cabinet to tuck everything away in.
He was such a big helper, and of course had so much fun playing with all of the parts and tools. He is going to be quite the handyman when he gets bigger!

22 Weeks

Today I got to 22 weeks. Just like with William this has been a super easy pregnancy. The baby is moving more and more, so it looks like we'll have another energizer bunny on our hands! Nick gets home this weekend, so I have an ultrasound scheduled for March 11th to find out if it is a boy or girl. Only a week and a half and the suspense will be over!

Working on Walking

William is getting so close to walking it could be any day now. I must say that I have no been working with him as much as I could, and maybe should. Selfish as it may be, I am waiting for Nick to get home before William takes his firt steps. There are lots of things that I worked on teaching William this month, but walking is not one.

21 Weeks

At my doctors visit this week I finally got the confusion on my due date cleared up. As I explained before, June 28th was based off of the first ultrasound that they did. However, the nurse who calculated that date was completely wrong. The baby measured small, not big, so the date based on the ultrasound would actually be July 9th. The policy in this hospital is unless an ultrasound indicates a 6 day difference or more, they never change the due date. So, I really am due on July 4th, putting me at 21 weeks on Thursday.

Playing in the Dirt

We had some great weather this week, so one day we went out to clean the car, and enjoy the sunshine. William hasn't ever really gotten the chance to play outside, so this was a fun experience for him.

He helped me pull weeds (that only he could see), and rake the beauty bark around, as well as spread it to the sidewalk.

He got so dirty, and tore his socks up, but he had a blast and it was nice to be able to spend some time outside without coats on.

Boys will be boys, and he couldn't resist tasting the dirt and leaves. Yum fiber!
