Update on Nick

Unfortunately, he can not send pictures of the base through any unsecured Internet, nor could I post them, so no pictures to show you his life over that but I can tell you that he is doing very well. After a month and a half, he is well adjusted to life over there, although not particularly enjoying it. He works 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week. They have five people (with one more on his way) and only two working systems, so his shift is likely to change in the next month or so. There isn't much for him to do, so he has signed up for school full time, and it doing everything that he can in order to become qualified to get his next promotion to Sergeant.
When he left his orders said he would be gone for 9 months or less, but more than likely it will be extended to a year, possibly even 15 months. Right now their job is to make sure that the roadways are clear and safe for military personal to drive on, and unless they schedule someone to come in after them, which isn't likely, they will be there till everyone else is done with their mission. That means that instead of the beginning on next year, he wont be coming back until next summer.

Playing at the Park

Ever since I had Kaelyn, my parents have been trying to find a day to take William to the park.

Every time they didn't have anything to do around here, or really, just thought of going, it was either raining or to hot.

After getting my wisdom teeth out Thursday, I desperately needed some sleep so Friday they took both kids and headed out to the park.

William took Kaelyn's hat, and made it his own, that boy just loves hats.

They played and played, till William was worn out, which isn't an easy thing to do.

William loves to be outside, and playing at the park, and it was great to be able to go to sleep, and not have to worry about getting up when the kids wake up.

Playing with Grandma and Grandpa

William has had the best time since Grandma and Grandpa got here.

He has learned the excitement of watching the washing machine go.

And he has even learned how to make breakfast.

They take him to the park and the store so that I could get some sleep, or get some studying done.

He has really enjoyed the one on one time he is getting, especially now that Kaelyn is here. He has them wrapped around his finger, and sometimes prefers them over me!

More of What Was Expected

Day two of transitioning to the toddler bed did not go nearly as well, as I expected. No Tylenol tonight, so he spent an hour awake, 45 minutes of it crying and hitting the door before he finally fell asleep on the floor. It's a good thing children don't mind sleeping on the floor, because I am sure he will be doing plenty of it during the next few weeks.

Growing Like Weeds

This week was full of doctors visits. William had his 18 month check up and he weighs 25 lbs 3 oz and is 32 1/2 inches tall. He is right on track of where he should be.

Kaelyn had her two week check up just days before, she is 7 lbs 8 oz and 20 inches long, so she is doing outstanding!

Today was William's first day in his toddler bed, and it may have been the fact that I gave him Tylenol to relieve a fever from his shots, but he was asleep, in his bed, within 15 minutes.

Getting to Know Each Other

It was a rough start when William met Kaelyn for the first time, a couple of pokes in the eyes, some pulled arms and squished heads.

He really loves her now though.

He puts her bows back in her hair for her when they fall out (usually because of him),

But not before trying them on himself first.

His new favorite thing to do is lay on the floor and have her on his stomach.

He talks to her when she cries and bounces her in her chair, he is going to be such a great big brother.

She is Here!

At 2 o'clock in the morning on June 30th I woke up with contractions.

Just over 8 hours later, our little Kaelyn Olivan Pullan was finally here.  She was 6 pounds, 9 ounces and 18 inches long, born at 10:21 A.M. We were fortunate enough to be able to connect with Nick through Skype. Although is was through the room next to mine, so I didn't actually get to see him, but he was able to see her right after being born.

We only had to stay in the hospital for 24 hours, and that was more than enough for me. So Monday afternoon my sister Cathy brought us back home.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing and playing by the pool with William.
