39 Weeks

I now have nothing to compare my pictures to, since William had arrived a week before this picture was taken. I have not been having any contractions that would be considered remotely consistent, just a couple a day. I have another appointment on Monday, but it looks like we will be getting a July baby after all. It will make a prettier mother's ring anyway.

38 Weeks

It is getting hot again, and that makes me miserable. At my doctors last week everything was the same, except I was measuring a week and a half behind where I was the previous week, and almost 4 weeks behind where I actually am, so they send me down to get the baby weighed. They said she is 6 lbs and 6 oz, although it is never exact, and I doubt she weighs that much quite yet. The ultrasound tech did however say that she has a lot of hair, she mentioned it three times so it must be true!

Kaelyn 38 1/2 weeks
At my doctors appointment today, there was a little progress, but not a lot. They stripped my membranes, and if that is going to do anything, it will be within 48 hours (there is a 70% chance) so we shall see. If not, I only have a week left and then she said we can start talking about some other options.

Finally Arrived

Nick had a very long week of traveling. When he left home, they went to Shannon, Ireland and then on to Manas, Kyrgyzstan. From there they went to Kaf, Afghanistan and finally to Apache. They are still living in temporary quarters until the unit they are replacing leaves. He said the food isn't bad, they showers are like real showers and the FOB (the base) has everything he can think he will need. He said it is about 100 degrees every day, but with no humidity, lots of sunshine and no clouds. He says it reminds him of Southern Utah. He is still working on getting his card to use the phones, but he has been on the computers so he can email and skype.

A Touch of Color

As promised, pictures of our "new" kitchen, thanks to our tax return. We were able to get a new table with a leaf so we can fit more than four people now.

We also painted our cabinets a dark purplish brown color, a nice change from the pale, outdated color they were.

We bought a ladder, so we were finally able to hang all of these pictures we have had sitting around to make ou black and white wall we have planned for months.

We also painted the living room a very light, pale blue. It is a little hard to see in the pictures, but that is what we wanted. It is more of a tint than anything, but a very soothing color and looks so much better than the ugly off white they had picked.

Through a little, okay, a lot, of hard work, our house is finally starting to reflect our style.

37 Weeks

William
Kaelyn
I made it to 37 weeks, and although I am still feeling great, this is one tough girl, and her kicks really pack a punch.

At my doctors appointment on Monday she said everything still looks great, I am dilated to about a 1 and 50%, but that is what I was with William from a month before he came, up till the moment they induced me so it doesn't really mean much.

How to Contact Nick

Nick turned his phone off when he left, so no one will be able to get ahold of him that way. Until he actually gets there and gets settled, the best way to contact him is through email (wolf_trax@hotmail.com) or by mail. We know he has access to computers to Skype, but we do not know how often he will be able to use it. If you have a skype account you can send your information to him, and he can call if he has time.

Other then that mailing letters or packages is the next best thing. It is treated as US mail, so it will not cost anything extra, it will just take a little bit longer. We hear that on average it takes about 12 days to receive packages, maybe a little less for letters. His address is:
E4 NICKOLAS R PULLAN
3rd BRIGADE 1st INFANTRY
HHC BDE
FOB APACHE
APO/AE 09383

Our Last Weekend

Our last weekend together before Nick left for Afghanistan was a great one. He had a 3 1/2 day weekend, so Saturday we were able to find a baby sitter and got on one last date.

Since he would be missing Father's Day, we celebrated on Sunday and I made him a German chocolate cake and cake balls. He made super yummy ribs and bakes potatoes for dinner.

Tuesday they had breakfast together one more time, something William will miss very much I am sure.

It was turning into a very hot day, so we went out and bought a kiddie pool for William, and Nick taught him how to squeeze one of his toys to squirt me with water.

However, most of his time was spent throwing dirt and grass into the pool.

That afternoon we packed all his gear into the car and headed on post to say goodbye. They spent a little more time playing together, and making memories.

Eventually it was time for us to leave though, so with one last picture of William and his Papa, some hugs, kisses and maybe a few tears, we said goodbye.

Nick emailed me on Thursday morning letting me know that they arrived in a small country near Russia safely, and have already finished the training they were sent there to do.

Family Pictures

We were lucky enough to be able to get new family pictures done while we were there.

Although they will be outdated in about a month, it was great to get everyone together again.

The photographer we use is truly amazing, we had some craziness getting everyone together and getting all of the shots everyone wanted in, but the pictures all turned out fantastic.

Visiting the Hogel Zoo

Sunday we all went to the zoo, and William had so much fun hanging out with his uncles.

They had some really cool Lego sculptures of all of the different animals.

As always, Grandma never mined carrying him around and holding him up to see the animals.

He still doesn't understand the point of the zoo, but he always seems to find something to entertain himself!

36 Weeks

Kaelyn
This week marks 36 weeks, and now we are just playing the waiting game. Everytime I go into the doctors, the nuse always tells me that I am the easiest patient. I never have any complaints, nothing ever changed, I make their job very easy.
Unless she decides to come before Nick leaves, to be quite honest, I don't care when she comes. She is much easier to take care of in there, then when she is out here with the rest of us.

Playing With the Fish

The next day we took a trip to the Living Planet Aquarium.

William loved watching the penguins and other fish, and even got a chance to splash around in the water, at least till the worker came back.

I think that was his favorite part, but no one minded holding him up to do a little more exploring.

One he found his way into the gift shop, there was no stopping him. He grabbed two snakes and wrestled them through the halls like a true snake charmer.

Next we all went out to dinner together, always a fun time.

Once we were all home, and not completely stuffed we all went out to enjoy some Popsicles.

William loved it, and soon ended up with his, Grandma's and half of mine. You just can't say no to a face like that!

Our First Day in Utah

The first real day we spent in Utah was nice and relaxing. We spent the day at home (Nick's parents') to give him some time to adjust to everything, and he had no problem at all.

He got to meet the dogs,

and he even got to play on the trampoline for the very first time. Whenever we were home, that is almost all he wanted to do the rest of the week.

Later that day we got the chance to take William to meet two sets of his Great Grandparents.

It was so special to see them all play together for the first time.

By the time we got home, he was pretty tired. We still had many fun things planned for the days ahead though.
