William is getting so close to walking it could be any day now. I must say that I have no been working with him as much as I could, and maybe should. Selfish as it may be, I am waiting for Nick to get home before William takes his firt steps. There are lots of things that I worked on teaching William this month, but walking is not one.

21 Weeks
At my doctors visit this week I finally got the confusion on my due date cleared up. As I explained before, June 28th was based off of the first ultrasound that they did. However, the nurse who calculated that date was completely wrong. The baby measured small, not big, so the date based on the ultrasound would actually be July 9th. The policy in this hospital is unless an ultrasound indicates a 6 day difference or more, they never change the due date. So, I really am due on July 4th, putting me at 21 weeks on Thursday.

Playing in the Dirt
We had some great weather this week, so one day we went out to clean the car, and enjoy the sunshine. William hasn't ever really gotten the chance to play outside, so this was a fun experience for him.
He helped me pull weeds (that only he could see), and rake the beauty bark around, as well as spread it to the sidewalk.
He got so dirty, and tore his socks up, but he had a blast and it was nice to be able to spend some time outside without coats on.
Boys will be boys, and he couldn't resist tasting the dirt and leaves. Yum fiber!

Freedom
Well, it has officially been one week since the start of weening William off of his pacifier. Although there are still moments that I am sure he wishes he could have it, for the most part he is dealing with it very well. Nap time is rarely a problem, and if it is, it would have been even with his pacifier. The only time we run into problems is when he is tired, then he just wants me. So now that he is off of that, I just need to ween him off of me!

Making Progress
Day three was a little better. He took his morning nap, after an hour of playing, but he took it! The afternoon nap was ruined by me, I woke him up when I went to get the mail. Luckily, he was able to take a really late nap that evening because I had young women's, so he was going to be up late, but he just went straight to bed when we got home, and slept all night.
Day four it only took half an hour for him to get to sleep for his morning nap. His afternoon nap was even better, probably only ten minutes before he fell asleep, and once again he went straight to bed and slept all night.

Bye Bye Pacifier
Monday I started weening William completely off of his pacifier, doing it cold turkey. I decided that besides the fact that I wanted him off of it before the baby got here, Nick being gone now was perfect. This way I don't have to worry about William waking Nick up in the middle of the night if he can't find it, or keeping him up from not wanting to go to sleep.
The first nap, was terrible, non existent in fact. He cried for a little over an hour, until I just went it and got him. The second nap went better. It was probably between an hour and an hour and a half before he fell asleep, but he only cried for about thirty of those minutes. Bedtime however, not one noise was heard from his room. I laid him down, and he was out like a light. Wonderful sound to my ears!
Tuesday started out more of the same. He wouldn't eat, so I changed him but all he did was whine, so, although earlier than usual, I laid him down for a nap and he just cried and cried. Having a busy morning/ early afternoon, this was his only chance for a nap until later in the day. His second nap, we had just gotten home from a friends house, so I made him a bottle and he fell asleep eating, so I don't know that I could count that as successful. However, being sick, he went to bed almost an hour early once again, without hearing one noise from him before falling asleep, AND he slept all night!

Almost half way
17 weeks with William |
20 weeks with William |
18/19 weeks with baby #2 |
It is kind of fun to have different pregnancies to compare. I am getting more exercise this time around, plus I am always chasing William. I feel like I am smaller, and when I pulled up the pictures from when I was pregnant with William, it shows. Although not a lot, I can still fit into all of my regular clothes, and most of the maternity clothes are still way to big for me.
When I was at the doctors a couple of weeks ago, they were on the verge of being worried about how little weight I had gained, and just told me to make sure I am getting enough calories. I know I am, plus, when is not gaining a ton of weight a bad thing? Less to work off in the end!
This pregnancy is going just as smoothly as the last, only about a week of morning sickness, and the fatigue is gone. No round ligament pain yet, but a little cramping. I do have more back pain, but who knows if that is really pregnancy related. Everyone tells me the all of the aches and pains are worse with every pregnancy, so we shall see.
To explain the confusion with the weeks, the hospital can't decide between two dates. One is based off of my cycle (July 4th) and the other is based off of the measurements from the ultrasound (June 28th) Since William was early, and I am unpredictable, we are going with the earlier date. Although, we are kind of secretly hoping that it will be a July 4th baby, just to keep with tradition. At this point, why not?

Growing up is no fun
It has been a very busy and crazy couple of weeks. Nick has been working some very long hours preparing for JRTC (training and proving they are ready for the upcoming deployment). He is set to leave on Friday the 1st, and come back on March 1st. It will be a long lonely month without him, but I am so many plans for when he is gone, hopefully he will be surprised to see all the work I accomplished.
In preperation for the new arrival, I have started weaning William off of both the bottle and his pacifier. He gets a bottle before bed everynight, and he only gets his pacifier as nap and bedtime. It has made for some stressful days, where my patients and self control were pushed to their very limit, but it will be so worth it in the long run.

It's like Christmas!
I starting converting the downstairs living room into an "office" and play room, so I brought the box in one day and let William go crazy.
He has so much fun discovering all of the new toys, and has slowly been bringing them upstairs piece by piece.
As always, there was a point that he was more interested in the box, then all of the toys. But he wouldn't be a baby, and certainly not William if he hadn't taken a moment to play with the box.

Thank you
About a week ago William started saying thank you, anytime we said it. At first it sounded more like dat ooh, but it is slowly get more and more clear, although still not quite thank you. At first, we didn't think to much of it, since he only said it when we said it, and he likes to copy sounds. However, the other day after Nick was done feeding William he said "thank you". So it is official, William said his first word, and I couldn't think of a better one, at least we are teaching him to be polite!
