Getting Settled

Well we made it to Germany Safe and sound, spent the first four days in a hotel. it was very nice, quite small for two children but it was wonderful. They had it decorated so strangely however, the lobby which had a lounge and everything in it has gorgeous chandeliers but they has taken a purple accordion tube and put it around them.  the couches were leather as well as the whole hide, fur and everything. it reminded me of the end of Sleeping Beauty when the godmothers are fighting about the color of the dress. A very chic fairy and a western fairy battling it out.
Friday we got into our house, which is really an apartment. we were lucky and did get into the bigger of the three bedrooms. It is so wonderful being on post, from our house we can walk to probably a dozen parks within five minutes. we walked to the PX ( department store)  and the commissary ( grocery store)  which is about a 3-4 mile walk in total. it was such a beautiful cool morning, walking through the German countryside. when you stand at the top of the hill whet the commissary is you can see all of downtown Wiesbaden.
Frankenstein's  castle it's only about an hour away, maybe less, Paris is about the hours, it is amazing to have so many things do close by. we went out yesterday and got bikes and a Taylor for the kids so now we can get around a little easier, hopefully be able to see a little more while we wait for our car to get here.
We got our Internet set up yesterday so we can email and Skype. Tuesday we will have or home phone set up so we can talk to people on the phone. We can't text people in the states though.
the Germans all ADORE Kaelyn, they think she is the cutest thing ever, she gets gawked at everyone we go out. the base is set up so that it is like three little bases crammed into the city anywhere they could fit them so we are comply immersed into the economy. being around the Germans, and staying in a German hotel, we have all started picking up on some new German words and phrases. the style here is very different as well. Everything,  at least in the city,  is all very fitted and almost business casual. jeans are a rarity, no one wears flip flip flops or tennis shoes. colored skinny jeans and skirts are what the women wear, slacks or khakis with dress shoes are what the men wear. our first day there I had intended to run to the park with the kids then get a little workout in while they play so I just wrote my workout clothes to breakfast, well boy did I get starred  at!  Needless to say I learned my lesson and the next morning my hair and makeup was all done, I had a nicer top on and heels. This sure has been s learning experience just in the week that we have been here.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Well, in about an hour the movers will be here to pack up with rest of our belongings. That means, that it will be at least a month before there will be any more posts. I hope everyone is well, and I can't wait to share this adventure with everyone!

4th of July

The kids got all dressed up to fit the patriotic spirit of the day, and William even got some tattoos!

We brought our fireworks over to our friends house, William was very interested in playing with them, till they started going off.

I think the most fun he had was playing horse shoes however.

Kaelyn was so excited about the fireworks, although the noise got to her a little, she loved all of the colors.

William spent most of the day with his  favorite baby sitter Kayce Jo, as she tried her hardest to get him to enjoy the fireworks.

In the end, William ended up inside, and Kaelyn ended up with her favorite person.

We had such a great day, relaxing, enjoying great food with wonderful friends and making lots of memories.

Moms Need Toys Too

Because of our need to more space already, we decided to trade out Versa in before we went to Germany so that we would have plenty of extra space while traveling around Europe. We walked into a dealership (after Nick had browsed a couple) with no intentions of actually buying that day. Well, the salesman did his job, along with Chrysler who made this awesome van! We left, with a fantastic deal and a new 2013 van that has everything we wanted. DVD player, stowing seats, automatic doors, the works. It is so nice to finally have room to go grocery shopping and not have to worry about taking the stroller out first, although parking has proved a little more challenging :)

Kaelyn's First Birthday Party

I decided that I wanted to throw Kaelyn a birthday party, as well as just one last get together before we left. Our very good friends showed up and my amazing friend Kim made the cakes and brought her girls over to watch Kaelyn destroy it.

Kaelyn was super excited, anything involving food gets her in a good mood.

My camera died (I know, always make sure you have plenty of batteries) so I don't have many pictures, but a do have a wonderful video.

This is the aftermath, we had to leave the cake overnight to dry before we could finally finish cleaning up from the most excited first birthday party ever!

Nick's commentary kind of makes this movie. It is a little long so to get it on the blog, I had to split it into two separate movies. Although, half has been cut out from the original.

Lets Go Fly a Kite

While wondering around the dollar store one day, I spotted a Spider Man kite. William has recently developed a fascination with him... Always looking for new things to show him, I figured even if it didn't work out, it was only a dollar.

They got it all put together and we went out to give it a try.

William did pretty good, after a few tried he finally got it up in the air.

The fun only lasted about 5 minutes, but those five minutes and $1 sure did make some good memories.

Easter Morning

Late again I know, but these pictures were on Nick's phone, and he isn't usually home when I do the blog so I forget.

I am sure you can guess what William was most excited about, the peeps!

They got lots of bubbles, balls, stuffed animals and some candy. William got a bug catcher, which was put to good use. Kaelyn got butterfly wings and a flower headband.

She did eventually discover the peeps, and enjoyed them almost as much as William did.

William was super excited to wear Kaelyn's wings, and ran around for about an our with them flapping around behind me. A calm Easter Sunday, but filled with lots of fun.
