Thanksgiving

This year we were invited to our neighbors for Thanksgiving dinner, along with a couple other people that Nick works with.

I cooked half the food but fortunately did not have to host the dinner in our house! It was a lot of fun, the kids had a blast playing with their friends and so did we. A night that everyone was up long past bedtime.

Halloween

This year was our first year trick or treating, and William was so excited. We had some friends over that morning and they showed him how to do it, so he was nice and prepared.

Kaelyn was dressed as a witch, but there were so many people she didn't want to walk.

There were some pretty scary people passing out candy, and that freaked him out and when it came time for bed scared him too much, but all in all, it was a great night.

William had so much fun and it was nice to have his friend Adrianne with him for moral support.

A little rough but this is a video of the very first house that we went to.

Getting Ready for Halloween

This year was the kids first year to really celebrated Halloween so we were pretty excited. William was Spider man and as soon as his costume came in the mail, he asked to put it on.

As we were decorating he came across Kaelyn's costume and of course wanted to wear that one too.

We had so much fun decorating now that the kids are old enough to help with some of the things.

Carving pumpkins was another first for them, and William was more than eager to help with his while Kaelyn played with all of our leftover decorations.

William picked a cyclops for his pumpkin.

Kaelyn picked a pumpkin witch for hers.

It was great preparing for the big day, William even had a friend show him how to trick or treat, so he was all ready when the time came!

My Little Bug

Kaelyn has become the life of the party in our house. She is wild and crazy, always making silly faces and doing funny things.

We always have a lot of fun together, me and my cuddle bug.

She's turned into an awesome person now that she is letting her personality out.

I love watching them both grow up, and can't wait for all of the fun times that we have together.

Off To Work

When Nick leaved for works it's a big deal in the house. Kaelyn throws herself on the floors and cries like he's never coming back and William begs to go with him.

One day William found an extra set of his uniform and put in on. He came to give me a kiss calling "See you tomorrow Mama!" He was really convinced that he got to go to work that day, but he sure looked cute.

Mini Godzillas

It's been a pretty destructive couple of weeks here in the Pullan house.

One day the kids decided that it would be fun to play in the sugar, they were happy, and my house was messy but it made for some cute pictures.

I gave them a bath and sent them on their way while I cleaned the kitchen. Next thing I know all of my clean laundry (which, admittedly, was sitting on the couch waiting to be folded) ended up in the bath tub to be washed again.

So I started on the next mess, redoing 6 loads of laundry then went to work on the computer.

Now our computer is on the other side of the wall as the wardrobes next to our front door, so when I peaked around I saw this. All of my flip flops on the floor, the diaper bag emptied and baby powder covering everything including William and Kaelyn.

Luckily, this last one happened a couple of days later. I don't know that I could have handles four major messes in one day. I came in to Kaelyn's room where they were playing to see them both, along with the floor and doors covered in diaper wash cream.

Just when I thought we were done, a couple of days later I come out of the kitchen to see William take a book from Kaelyn and throw it over our balcony. I look over the edge to see this. At least two dozen toys thrown down three stories. The worst part is? Most of it had been done the night before with no one knowing.
It's been fun, and now I keep tabs on them at all times.

A Day Full of Firsts

Kaelyn was going through this phase when we first moved here that anything relatively flat, was now a chair for her to sit on. She spent hours throughout the day going from one thing to another and sitting on it. Getting up, then sitting back down. Well one morning before Nick was even back from PT she was getting up onto the booster seat, when it fell over, landing her face first on the ground. She got a big gash on her chin which was bleeding profusely, and quite frankly, freaked me out. In my panicked state, I grabbed my old cell phone and dialed 911, not knowing when Nick was going to be home, and still not having a house phone to call anyone. An ambulance was sent, we were walking out the door right when Nick got home, so he stayed home with William as I got my first ride in an ambulance with Kaelyn.
They took us across town and she got all fixed up. In hind sight, no hospital visit was needed, they just glued her chin closed (which didn't really work and broke open again the next day, because she once again fell). As the visit was ending and I was getting ready to leave I realized that I had absolutely no way of getting home. Nick had only had his cell phone for a day or two so I didn't have the number memorized, I couldn't find anyone that spoke more than a few words of English, I had no Euro on me, and I was starting to panic. I said a quick prayer in our room before leaving the emergency room, and headed out the door. I chose one direction, turns out it was the wrong one so I turned around and eventually came across the main entrance. I went to the information desk and finally found someone who spoke decent English who pointed me in the direction of an ATM (which is not what they call them here) and gave me an estimate of how much he though I would need. As luck would have it, he flagged down a cab driver who was pulling away, and almost didn't stop, but he spoke English. He knew where one section of the base was (which is still 10 miles away from home) but I figured if I could get there, I could figure out a better way of getting home. He headed off in that direction, jabbering on about how he loved living in America and how all of the Americans here have so many children. As we drove I figured out where I was, then was able to tell him how to get to our apartment.
He was a lucky driver that day, because of the fact that I felt totally lost and was prepared to walk home, even if it took me all day, he got a large tip of 10 Euro. I truly felt like he was put in my path for a reason, I am truly grateful he was. Plus, I got to enjoy my very first taxi ride.
